The original distillery, built in 1896 in Greenock was destroyed by a fire in 1903
It was rebuilt, but then destroyed again during the Greenock Blitz in 1941
After being rebuilt a second time, it finally shut down in 1952
Planning permission for the new distillery was granted in 2017
Building stalled due to Brexit and covid
First distillation was in April 2025
The distillery produces both unpeated and peated whisky
Maturation primarily in sherry casks
